Guarana is an herb that contains a form of caffeine called guaranine. What makes guaranine unique from caffeine found in beverages is its slower release. Licorice
Highly prized in Chinese medicine. It is used in almost all of the Chinese patent herbal formulas. It helps to reduce the amount of cortisone broken down by the liver, thereby reducing the workload of the adrenal glands and giving the user more energy and anti-inflammatory activity.
Licorice has shown to help with body fat reduction (Armanini et al 2002).
Licorice root has been shown to decrease serotonin reuptake by up to 60 percent, which may help alleviate depression (Ofir et al 2003).

St. John’s wort
Depression
A review published online by Cochrane Systematic Reviews on October 8, 2008 concluded that extracts of the herb St John’s wort are as effective for treating major depression as standard drugs.
A number of clinical trials since the 1980s have shown that the herb could be helpful for individuals with mild to moderate forms of this devastating condition, and several trials have recently evaluated the effect of St John’s wort in individuals with major depression.
Klaus Linde of the Centre for Complementary Medicine in Munich, and his colleagues at the University Medical Center in Freiburg, Germany analyzed 29 randomized, double-blinded trials which evaluated the effects of St John’s wort on a total of 5,489 individuals with major depressive symptoms. The review found that St John’s wort performed better than a placebo against major depression. In trials which compared St John’s wort extract to drugs, the extract was found to be equally effective against depression, with significantly fewer people dropping out due to adverse effects compared to those who received selective serotonin uptake inhibitors or older antidepressant drugs.
The results of 23 studies involving five thousand participants led the British Medical Journal to editorialize that: “St.John’s wort is a promising treatment for depression…Hypericum extracts were significantly superior to placebo and similarly effective as standard antidepressants…The herb may offer an advantage, however, in terms of relative safety and tolerability, which might improve patient compliance.”

According to the book Hypericum & Depression, the authors note that the herb “is currently being medically studied as a treatment for AIDS, several forms of cancer, skin diseases such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, peptic ulcers, and even hangover.”
Improves Sleep
Hypericum also seems to improve the quality of sleep, a major concern in depressed patients. Early studies on subgroups of depressed populations reveal that St. John’s Wort may yield beneficial results when used as treatment for Seasonal Affective Depression (SAD) and other forms of depression.

Medicinal Flowers
Dr Edward Bach, discoverer of the like named Bach flower remedies, studied medicine at the University College Hospital, London, and was a House Surgeon there. He worked in general practice, and as a bacteriologist and pathologist. Despite the success of his work with orthodox medicine he felt dissatisfied with the way doctors were expected to concentrate on diseases and ignore the people who were suffering them. He was inspired by his work with homoeopathy, but wanted to find remedies that would be purer and less reliant on the products of disease. Proteins

The Pancreas

How it Works
The typical American diet consisting of processed foods—refined sugars and starches such as bread, pasta, potatoes, snacks and sweets, etc.—overworks the pancreas. The pancreas must constantly pump out insulin to take care of all the sugar (or glucose) that makes up these foods. (Realize that a slice of bread is nothing but simple sugar; the same is true for potatoes, pasta, white rice and all other processed “white” foods, including breakfast cereals.) It is important to understand that the minute carbohydrates are consumed, they are broken down into glucose in the bloodstream, and then whatever is not needed immediately for energy is swooped up by insulin, converted into fat and stored. The 4 Stages

- Stage 1: You start out using a packet as the basis of 3 of your 4 meals each day. You eat a low-carb, low-fat “regular” dinner. You follow this until you have reached 70-80% of your weight loss goal.
- Stage 2: You reduce the Ideal foods to 2 per day, eating 2 low-carb, low-fat “regular” meals and continue the Ideal plan until you’ve reached 100% of your goal.
- Stage 3: For weight loss stabilization, you will re-introduce moderate amounts of fats and carbohydrates to your diet for 14 days. You only have 1 Ideal packet per day with 2 other regular meals.
